Following are the objectives of the Institute:
- To undertake studies and research pertaining to Konkani Language, Culture, Social Studies, Literature, History etc. with special reference to the socially and economically backward Communities.
- To conduct seminars, workshops and conferences concerning Linguistics, Literature, History, Social Studies and Culture pertaining to Konkani Language and people.
- To foster inter-regional interaction among Konkani scholars including students.
- To promote inter-disciplinary research, and disseminate information relating to the above activities.
- To foster inter-language studies to promote national integration.
- To establish a network of all Konkani Institutes to leverage resources.
